Installation view, Luleå Art Biennial 2008, Sweden
A police car was to be parked in from of the gallery, partly blocking the entrance, so that it looked as if they had just arrived because of some kind of emergency. As it turned out to be impossible to obtain a real police vehicle the biennial organised a 15-year old Saab (without MOT or insurance) to be outfitted to superficially resemble its real counterpart. A look inside showed worn out corduroy seats and a missing dashboard. During the opening the proprietors of a restaurant inside the gallery building had a real emergency, which was left untended for hours because the police went straight home - after all it looked like some colleagues were already at the scene.
Three weeks later the car was vandalised, which led to it being withdrawn from the exhibition because of security reasons.
