London, 2003
Someone comes and cleans up. The first work that explicitly deals with the subject of security and surveillance. A friend dropped a bottle of red wine for the camera. The video shows how competent they are at maintaining public order. After 5 seconds someone runs by to get a warning beacon, and the woman with the radio calls the cleaner after 14 seconds.
The video was shot in a London train station during a peak of terror hysteria, just before the start of the Iraq war. The beeping sound in the background is the alarm signal of a nearby tube station, which happens to be being evacuated because of a suspicious suitcase. The video ends quite abruptly because I was spotted on surveillance cameras and thrown out.
